video. | action for violet.

[welp, when the video flickers on, you get a Fuji. and this time, even those that wouldn't know him particularly well can see that he is in a terrific mood. tired, but still very much happy. (protip: his younger brother's arrival may or may not have happened this week, though surely that has nothing to do with it--)

there is a Raichu in his lap, and he is fiddling with the pokemon's ears. every once in a while, the Raichu makes a grumping sort of sound, but remains obediently seated, tail swishing to the side.

when he speaks, it's thoughtful.]

He's got sort of a button nose, doesn't he? [he pokes at the Raichu's nose, as if to demonstrate, and the pokemon twitches, making a huffy sort of sound.] I've heard that the way the nose is shaped affects how nicely a pair of glasses can sit over it, really, but I don't think I've ever had much first-hand experience with it. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

[but if facial-shape is hereditary, does it mean that his own facial shape might be suited for glasses? he doesn't like to think about it. a look of consideration--] But with the way his Thunder falls, I think I could justify Berlin here getting a pair. Maybe he'll look less grouchy with a pair of Raichu-sized glasses.

[the Raichu evidently disagrees, making a noise of disapproval. Fuji only laughs.]

Ah, by the way--

[and here, he pulls a glass of water on-screen.

the water touches the half-way mark, innocuous. Fuji peers into the screen, thoughtful.]

Well? Half-full, or half-empty?

Not exactly - I was a surgeon, the optometrist gig is just something I picked up here. A hobby, you might say.

I got a defect Psyduck. Kept walking into things so I fixed him up with a pair of glasses and a rubber band. It's not perfect but it does the trick.

I could sure try. It took a bit of trial and error to get the values right so you'll probably have to do that yourself - you know him better than I do after all - but I suppose I could work out some sort of harness or something.

It's pretty good to know that I'm not the only one who got a defect.

I'll see what I can do. No promises of excellence though, this isn't exactly my area of expertize.

That's not a bad idea! Why shouldn't there be a support group? It's not like they can really speak up for themselves.

Consolation as well as a business opportunity - I like the way you think, kid.

I'm Hawkeye, by the way.

And just what would you be bringing to the business, exactly?

Ah, but for that to apply you would have to at least have a written documentation that it was your idea! And seeing that I already have a functional pair of Poké eyewear I don't see how that would really hold up in court.

[He's teasing, really. And maybe channeling Charles a little bit.]

Unless you got more nearsighted rats that you're not telling me about that would be a very short collaboration.

How's this: you help me round up some customers and I'll give you a cut of the profit I probably won't be making?

That must be noisy.

Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful business partnership.
